MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Mississippi College came up short on Saturday afternoon, falling 86-74 to Auburn Montgomery in Gulf South Conference play at the AUM Athletics Complex.
Despite a dominant 37-point performance from Rashad Bolden, the Choctaws (7-14, 3-12 GSC) were unable to keep pace with a red-hot second half from the Warhawks (9-11, 6-9 GSC), who outscored MC 53-40 after the break. Bolden shot 10-of-24 from the field, including five three-pointers, and went 12-of-13 from the free-throw line.
Tyshun Briscoe added 14 points, while Tremaine Dixon chipped in nine points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. MC struggled with efficiency, shooting just 34.8% from the field despite hitting 47.4% from beyond the arc.
AUM had five players score in double figures, led by Paul Lanzi's 20 points. Malachi Rhodes followed with 18 points, while Trent Coleman posted a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. The Warhawks shot 54.6% in the second half and controlled the boards with a 39-38 rebounding edge.
The Choctaws return home on Thursday, Feb. 6, to take on West Alabama at 7 p.m. at A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton, Miss.
