CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College defeated Delta State University 3-1 on Saturday at Robert P. Longabaugh Field. The Choctaws opened the scoring in the first half, adding two more goals in the second half to secure the victory. Delta State managed one goal in the second half but could not close the gap. MC outshot Delta State 21-6, with six shots on goal compared to Delta State's four.

The game between Mississippi College and Delta State began with MC on the offensive, as Russell Berko led several attempts on goal. Berko's persistence paid off in the 31st minute when he scored, assisted by Alvaro Pena, giving The Blue and Gold a 1-0 lead. Delta State had their chances, including a notable save by MC's goalkeeper Cole Turner in the 22nd minute, but failed to capitalize. The first half concluded with the home team leading 1-0, maintaining their advantage despite committing several fouls.

Delta State opened the second half with a goal by Andrew Dunn in the 46th minute, leveling the score at 1-1. The Choctaws responded promptly as Lewis Matton scored in the 60th minute off an assist from Angel Carceles to regain the lead. MC further solidified their advantage with a goal from Sergio Garrido in the 78th minute, increasing the score to 3-1. The Blue and Gold's defense held firm, with goalkeeper Turner making key saves, ensuring a victory over Delta State.
