CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College fell in straight sets to No. 16 West Florida in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 11. MC moves to 7-12 on the season and 4-5 in league play while the Argonauts remain unblemished in conference action and improve to 15-3 on the season.
Meg Paparella led MC with 11 kills and added eight digs in the match while
Reese Regner contributed with 13 assists and one service ace.
Sophia Saxon also delivered 13 dimes while securing nine digs.
MC opened the first set against the Argos with a strong start.
Cydney Mitchell and Paparella secured early kills to get on the scoreboard. Despite early errors, the Blue and Gold's offense found its rhythm mid-set with
Holland Williams and
Mary Grace Foster contributing crucial points, including a service ace from Regner to close the gap to 8-5.

As the set progressed, the Choctaws continued to battle, with Foster and Paparella adding key kills. A block by Foster on Kumara Flanagain's attack energized the team, bringing the score to 20-14. However, UWF maintained their offensive pressure, widening their lead through consistent play, and ultimately secured the set 25-15.

In the second set, the Blue and Gold fought to regain momentum after early points by West Florida. Foster and Paparella each contributed key kills, rallying the team to close a four-point deficit to 16-all. Despite a determined effort that included blocks by
Cydney Mitchell and Paparella, MC struggled to maintain a lead against West Florida's persistent attacks.

Saxon and Williams made significant contributions, keeping the set within reach. The Choctaws tied the score at 22-all, driven by consistent setups from Regner. However, the Blue and Green capitalized on late opportunities, including a decisive service ace, to narrowly close the set 25-22.

In the third set, MC began strong with an early point from
Cydney Mitchell's kill, set by Regner. The Choctaws maintained the pressure, with Paparella contributing a kill to deadlock the contest at 3-3. Despite a service ace from Paparella later in the set, MC couldn't maintain momentum as West Florida capitalized on miscues to pull ahead.

West Florida's effective offense, led by Aniston Cochran and Magdalena Vongkasemsiri, extended their lead as the set progressed and concluded with West Florida sealing the victory at 25-15.
