WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Mississippi College women's soccer team wrapped up its Florida road trip with a 2-1 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday afternoon, improving to 2-0 on the season.
The Lady Choctaws took an early lead in the 24th minute when a team goal put them ahead 1-0. They doubled their advantage early in the second half as Olivia Graham found the back of the net in the 50th minute, assisted by Parker St. Amant.
Palm Beach Atlantic cut the deficit in half in the 62nd minute with a goal from Marina Leal, but Mississippi College's defense held strong for the remainder of the match.
Jessi Carro recorded three saves in goal for the Lady Choctaws, while Taylor Jackson had five saves for Palm Beach Atlantic. Mississippi College outshot Palm Beach Atlantic 11-6, including six shots on goal.
With the win, Mississippi College completed a Florida sweep, having defeated Nova Southeastern 1-0 on Thursday.
The Lady Choctaws return home next week for their next matchup on Wednesday versus Texas A&M International at Robert P. Longabaugh Field beginning at 1 p.m.
