CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College women's soccer earned its first Gulf South Conference win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Christian Brothers University 6-0 at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
The Choctaws started strong, with Karah Boydstun scoring the opening goal in the 14th minute, assisted by Margherita Giubilato. Giubilato then made her mark, netting two goals in quick succession at the 24:05 and 40:01 marks, the latter of which brought her season total to four goals.
Paula Catalan added to the tally just after halftime, scoring in the 48th minute. Shortly after, Jaylen Bodry found the back of the net with an assist from Parker St. Amant, followed by Summer Utzig completing the scoring barrage just 12 seconds later, marking her first goal of the season.
Mississippi College dominated in shot attempts, outshooting CBU 24-11, with 13 shots on goal compared to the Buccaneers' five. Goalkeeper Jessi Carro recorded five saves, securing the shutout for the Choctaws.
Mississippi College (1-1 GSC) will look to build on this momentum when they travel to Delta State for a matchup on Friday in Cleveland, Miss., scheduled for 3 p.m.
