MOBILE, Ala. — The Mississippi College men's soccer team suffered a tough 3-2 loss to Spring Hill College on Sunday in Gulf South Conference action.
The Choctaws (2-3-1, 0-2-0 GSC) took an early lead with a goal from Lewis Matton in the 18th minute, but Spring Hill (2-3-0, 2-0-0 GSC) responded with two goals before halftime. Alessandro Merlo leveled the score in the 25th minute, and Quinn Carper converted a penalty kick shortly before halftime, giving the Badgers a 2-1 advantage.
In the second half, the Choctaws equalized with another penalty kick, this time scored by Sergio Garrido in the 66th minute. However, Spring Hill regained the lead with Brett Stow's goal in the 81st minute, sealing the victory.
Mississippi College outperformed Spring Hill in corner kicks, earning eight compared to the Badgers' zero. However, they were outshot 9-8, with both teams recording five shots on goal.
