MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- In a softball showdown, #12 Mississippi College edged out CBU in a match, securing a 4-3 victory. The game showcased performances from both teams, with plays and players leaving a mark on the field.
Mississippi College dominated the first inning with three runs, with McCall Lee singling to left field, bringing in Emily Rigney for the opening run. Kamryn Eaton then hit a homer to center field, scoring Lee, as MC took a 3-0 lead after one inning.Â
In the fourth inning, Jordan LaFosse doubled to center field, allowing Jordan Moore to score, as MC took a 4-0 advantage.
In the seventh inning, CBUÂ hit a homer to left field, driving in three runs for the Lady Bucs, narrowing the deficit to 4-3.
MC went on to close out the game the rest of the way, as the Lady Choctaws won 4-3 in game one.
Emily Rigney tallied two runs and two hits. Jordan LaFosse's double secured crucial runs. Kamryn Eaton's homer solidified her reputation as a force.
Mississippi College improved to 34-6 overall and 16-6 in GSC play after the win. They will take on CBU once again on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.
