MONTICELLO, Ark. --- The Mississippi College baseball team snapped a three-game slide as it topped the University of Arkansas at Monticello in a non-conference tilt, 13-8, on Wednesday, March 6 at Weevils Field. MC improved to 10-6 on the season and 7-3 outside of the Gulf South Conference. The victory snapped a nine-game, losing streak in the series and handed the program its first win in Monticello since Feb. 20, 2018.

A trio of Choctaws recorded multiple-hit efforts on the day paced by
Bryce LaRocca. The Lake Charles, La., native went 3-for-4 at the dish with five RBI and three runs scored. Two of his hits went for extra bases, including a three-run home run in the top of the first to help place the Blue and Gold up 6-0 before the Boll Weevils came to the plate.
Â
Cole Drake joined LaRocca with a multi-hit and multi-RBI performance as he went 2-for-6 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored.
Blaise Breerwood also logged two hits on the day and drove in a run. MC totaled 10 hits in the contest. It marks the ninth time this season the squad reached the double-digit mark this season and the fourth time with 10-or-more runs in a game.
Â
Jeff Liddle (1-1) notched his first win on the bump of the season. He allowed one run on two hits and added a strikeout to his ledger. He was one of six hurlers to take the bump for the Blue and Gold in the contest.
Â
After LaRocca's home run, his second of the season and first since Feb. 2, the Green and White got a run back in the bottom half of the inning and narrowed the deficit to 6-1. The home run helped increase the Choctaws' nation-leading total to 31.
Â
MC again posted another crooked number in the top of the third as it capitalized on miscues to plate four runs and hold a 10-2 lead through three frames. The Blue and Gold added a run in the top of the fourth as
Wesley Sides scored on a bases-loaded, hit-by-pitch and pushed across another in the fifth
Caleb Reese scored on a throwing error. The hit batter was one of three in the game for MC and joined 10 walks to assist in the run productivity.
Â
The Weevils added two in the bottom of the fifth to match the run production by their visitors from the Magnolia State over the previous two at bats, but still trailed by eight runs heading into the final three innings.
Â
MC posted its final run of the contest in the eighth as Breerwood singled up the middle to score LaRocca. UAM attempted a rally in the bottom of the ninth as it nine batters to the plate and collected four runs on five hits, but it was too little, too late as
Lane Little entered the contest and retired the last out of the contest.
