ROME, Ga. — #10 Mississippi College clinched a resounding 16-0 victory over Shorter in Sunday's game three, completing a series sweep with an overwhelming offensive performance that saw six home runs, including three from Jordan LaFosse. The win propelled MC to a 24-5 overall record and a 10-5 standing in GSC play.
The Lady Choctaws wasted no time, piling on runs from the very first inning. LaFosse set the tone with a two-run homer to center field, followed by a double from Brookelyn Cannon that brought in Shelby Samples, extending the lead to 3-0.
Kamryn Eaton then smashed a two-run homer, with Emily Rigney adding a two-RBI double to left field, pushing the score to 7-0 by the end of the first inning.
In the third inning, Mississippi College continued their offensive onslaught. LaFosse delivered another powerful homer, this time driving in three runs, while McCall Lee and Madison Sinclair added solo homers of their own, extending the lead to 14-0.
The final blow came in the fourth inning when Sinclair's homer brought in the fifteenth run, followed by a sacrifice fly from LaFosse, scoring Hannah Tauzin and securing the 16-0 victory.
The offensive outburst was complemented by a solid pitching performance, with Mississippi College's pitchers holding Shorter scoreless throughout the game.
LaFosse led the charge with eight RBIs, supported by Rigney who contributed two RBIs. McCall Lee's homer also marked a milestone as she broke the school record for RBIs in a career.
With the series sweep secured, Mississippi College now looks ahead to their upcoming matchup against West Alabama next weekend on March 29-30. They will hit the road next weekend to face the Tigers in Livingston, Ala., in a three-game series, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. on Friday.
