Choctaw Football Releases 2024 Schedule

CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College under the guidance of first-year head coach Mike Kershaw, are excited to unveil their 2024 football schedule, commencing on September 5 in Rome, Ga., against Shorter.

The Choctaws are slated to compete against seven Gulf South Conference opponents along with two non-conference opponents. They will enjoy the advantage of hosting six games at Robinson-Hale Stadium in Clinton, Miss., while hitting the road for four games.

A week following their opener, they will return home to clash with Texas A&M Kingsville from the Lone Star Conference. Notably, A&M posted a 7-3 record last season, securing a victory over #20 West Georgia in their home opener.

Subsequently, the Choctaws will confront another GSC opponent, North Greenville, who handed them a 34-10 defeat in 2023.

Wrapping up September, the team will embark on their first road trip to Murphreesboro, N.C., to face second-year GSC member Chowan, a team they defeated 38-21 during homecoming in 2023.

In October, Mississippi College will continue their road campaign, journeying to Pensacola, Fla., on October 5 to take on perennial GSC frontrunner West Florida. They will then return home on October 12 to square off against West Alabama, who emerged victorious in a tight 10-7 defensive battle in 2023.

The following week, the Blue & Gold will hit the road again, facing Valdosta State on October 19, before concluding the month by hosting another GSC newcomer, Erskine College. Notably, Erskine struggled last season, going winless in the South Atlantic Conference.

November begins with a well-deserved bye week during the week of November 2. They will resume action at home on November 9, facing Independent opponent Northeastern State. Led by first-year coach Darrin Chiaverini, the RiverHawks aim to bounce back from their 1-10 record in 2023.

The Choctaws will cap off their season with The Battle for the Heritage Bell Trophy against Delta State on November 16. Hosting the Statesmen, boasted an impressive 10-2 record last season and reached the second round of the Division II Football Championship Playoffs, promises to be an exciting conclusion to their season.
