CLINTON, Miss.— Mississippi College outlasted Arkansas Baptist 82-77 in overtime Saturday at A.E. Wood Coliseum to improve to 4-2 on the season.Â
Mississippi College was led by JJ Harris, who scored 24 points, including key free throws and a three-pointer in overtime. Harris also grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 3 assists in 37 minutes of play.
Tyree Bracey added 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Tremaine Dixon finished with 13 points. Judah Land contributed 8 points and 9 rebounds for the Choctaws.
Arkansas Baptist (6-3) kept the game close throughout, with Deavon Bankston leading the way with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Ryan Gordan chipped in 14 points, and Nickolis Moye scored 13. Despite the strong individual performances, the Buffaloes struggled in the final minutes, missing key shots in regulation and overtime.
The game saw six lead changes and was tied at 68 after Harris hit a layup with 43 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. In the extra period, Harris and Bracey helped Mississippi College pull away with a 14-9 scoring advantage.
Mississippi College shot 51.9 percent from the field and hit 79.3 percent of its free throws. Arkansas Baptist finished at 46.3 percent shooting and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line.
The Choctaws return to action Thursday, Dec. 5, at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
