SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Mississippi College capped off another impressive season at the 2024 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, with Taylor Benoit representing the women's program and the men's team continuing their streak of national appearances. Despite challenging conditions on the rain-soaked and muddy Arcade Creek Cross Country Course, the Choctaws displayed determination and resilience.
Taylor Benoit delivered a gritty performance, finishing 87th with a time of 22:03. Benoit showcased incredible resolve, climbing from 147th early in the race to claim her top-100 finish. She was the fourth Gulf South Conference (GSC) runner to cross the line, continuing MC's streak of having at least one female representative at nationals for the fourth consecutive year.
The Mississippi College men's team, also in their fourth straight national appearance, placed seven runners in a competitive field. Each of the top five scoring members hailed from either Mississippi or Louisiana, exemplifying the regional talent fueling the program's success.
