Men's Basketball Falls to Dallas Baptist in Road Loss

DALLAS, Texas — Mississippi College struggled to keep pace with No. 8 Dallas Baptist University on Saturday, falling 109-45 in a non-conference matchup at the Burg Center.

The Choctaws (3-3) were unable to overcome a strong offensive performance from the Patriots (6-1), who shot 53.8% from the field (42-of-78) and hit 14 three-pointers. Despite the tough loss, Mississippi College showed resilience, particularly in the second half, and got solid contributions from several players.

Tyshun Briscoe led the Choctaws with 7 points, while Odis Carter added 9 points off the bench. JJ Harris contributed 6 points and a team-high 7 rebounds. Despite shooting just 28.6% from the field (16-of-56), the Choctaws showed grit and kept battling throughout the game.

Dallas Baptist built a commanding 52-21 lead at halftime, capitalizing on Mississippi College's shooting struggles. The Choctaws shot just 28.6% in the first half, including 1-of-9 from three-point range.

Defensively, Mississippi College forced 12 turnovers and converted them into 14 points. The Choctaws also scored 24 points in the paint and grabbed 27 rebounds, including 6 second-chance points.

The Choctaws return to action Monday, Nov. 25, for an exhibition matchup against Nicholls State University. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at David R. Stopher Gymnasium in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
