BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Kinley Harris earned Gulf South Conference Freshman Female Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
 
This is the first weekly award for Harris and the third for the program this season. Taylor Benoit earned GSC Runner of the Week on Sept. 25 alongside Kate Finch, who picked up freshman of the week laurels.
 
Harris placed 13th at the Belhaven Invitational held at Choctaw Trails. She proved to be the fastest freshman in the field as she clocked a time of 24:21.5 in the 6K race. The time bested her previous mark of 25:24.3 at the Rhodes Invitational earlier this season.
 
The Trussville, Ala., native assisted the Choctaw to a third-place finish at the Invite, trailing Berry College and the University of West Florida.
 
Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 12 as it travels to the Rocket City to compete in the University of Alabama in Huntsville Charger Invitational. Live results for the race are at www.gochoctaws.com/coverage. The 6K race held at John Hunt Park is set for an 8 a.m. start.
