CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team improved its win streak to five as it toppled Trevecca Nazarene University in four sets on Saturday, Oct. 5, moving to 7-6 overall and 5-1 in the Gulf South Conference.

The Choctaw scattered the offensive output in the four-set victory with eight different players recording a kill as the team totaled 43.
Lydia Paulette paced the squad with 13 kills – her 61st career contest with double-figure winners.
Ali Wiggins and
Caylin Pixley directed the offensive effort. Wiggins dished out 18 assists with 15 coming off the hands of Pixley.

On the defensive end,
Samarin Kipple wiped up the floor on the defensive end with a team-best 18 digs.
Londyn Bakeris added nine.
Julia Sumrall defended the net with five total blocks.
Mary Grace Foster added three.

After falling in the first set, the Choctaw rallied to take the next three rounds and pick up the victory in the first meeting between the two programs. MC evened the contest at a set each with a 25-13 win in the second.

The Blue and Gold strung together scoring runs in the third set to grab an early lead, not letting the Trojans within two points down the stretch. The differentiating spurt was five straight points, expanding the margin to 21-15, after the Purple and White narrowed the lead to 16-15.

In a closely contested set, MC claimed victory 25-23 to grab the match. In a set marred by a series of attack errors from both teams, MC held a 21-13 advantage, but an 8-1 scoring run by the Trojans narrowed the deficit to within a point. Throughout the set, both teams alternated scoring points, with the Blue and Gold consistently holding a slight lead. Miscues allowed MC to maintain its advantage as the Trojans could not overcome the early deficit.

The Choctaw are set to compete on Friday, October 11 at Valdosta State, with the first serve scheduled for 5 p.m. central time.
