JACKSON, Miss. --- Mississippi College cruised to a 14-point win over West Florida on Thursday evening, defeating the Argos 86-72 on the campus of Belhaven.
MC continues to trend upward, heating up at the right time, as they improved to fifth in the GSC standings behind five double-digit scorers on Thursday night. It was the second GSC game in a row that the Choctaws won by 10+, knocking off Union this past Saturday, 75-53.
On Thursday, MC opened up the first half of action taking a 7-point lead going into the break, leading 33-26.
MC continued to gain momentum in the second half, controlling a 17-point advantage over UWF, 64-47, with just under 10 minutes remaining on the clock.
The Navy and Gold went on to finalize the win over UWF, taking the 14-point win, 86-72, in GSC action.Â
The Choctaws produced five different scorers with double-digits with
Rashad Bolden pacing the way with 23 points scored in 39 minutes of action with six rebounds, nine field goals made, and two steals.
Andrew Seager was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field with 16 points scored and eight rebounds in 31 minutes on the court.Â
Cam Brown was 6-of-10 with two three pointers, tallying 15 points in 34 minutes. He also collected eight rebounds on the night.Â
TJ Wallace added double-digit points for his evening, producing 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting, with a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the free throw line.
Jakemin Abney rounded out the scorers in double-digits, providing 10 points in 23 minutes. He also had four rebounds, three assists, and one steal.Â
MC was 33-of-60 from the field, shooting 55%, with 44 points in the paint, 16 points off of the bench, and 13 points off of turnovers.
The Choctaws improved to 9-8 overall and 8-5 in GSC play with the win. MC sits in fifth place in the conference standings, behind West Georgia, UAH, Lee, and West Alabama.
They return to action on Saturday, January 27, where they take on Valdosta State beginning at 4 p.m. at the Owens Health and Wellness Center on the campus on Tougaloo College in Jackson, Miss.
