JACKSON, Tenn. — In a gripping Sunday evening soccer showdown, Mississippi College completed their Tennessee sweep for the weekend, defeating Union University by a final score of 2-1.
Guilherme Santos set the tone early with a goal at 15:08, assisted by Alemu Mercer. The lead for MC extended in the 43rd minute when Jayce Dotson found the back of the net to give the Choctaws a 2-0 lead.
Union mounted a goal of their own at 53:46, with Kenny Nitzsche scoring to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Choctaws held onto the lead for the remainder of the content, capturing the win over the Bulldogs by a final of 2-1.
MC dominated with 14 shots, nine of which were on target, while Union managed 12 shots, eight of which were on goal.
In goal, Cole Turner made seven crucial saves for the Blue and Gold. With the win, MC has now secured four consecutive wins, improving their overall record to 7-1-1 for the season, including an impressive 3-0-1 in GSC play.
Mississippi College returns to the pitch on Friday, September 29 at home where they face off against Delta State at Robert P. Longabaugh Field at 3:30 p.m.
