Erin Hederman’s Brace Leads Lady Choctaws to First Win Over St. Mary’s

SAN ANTONIO, TX- Mississippi College defeated St Mary's (Tx) for their first win of the season Saturday at Sigma Beta Chi Field.  

Erin Hederman scored the first of her two goals in the 26th minute. However, the Lady Rattlers responded quickly and tied the game at 1-1 with a goal by Juni Ejere in the 28th minute. 

The 1-1 score would hold going into halftime, as the Lady Choctaws had six shots on goal in the first half compared to the Lady Rattlers' three.   

Avery Headerman got involved in the scoring as well and gave the Lady Choctaws the lead once again with her Penalty Kick goal in the 62nd minute.  Not to be outdone, Erin Headerman added the second goal of her brace in the 71st minute off an assist by Irene Lores to push the lead to 3-1.  

Eliza Cerda cut the lead to 3-2 after her goal in the 86th minute assisted by Love Tovar and Shelby Paniagua, however, it was too little too late as the Lady Choctaws would hold onto that lead and come away with the 3-2 win.     

On the game, the Lady Choctaws outshot the Lady Rattlers 17-9, however, they were outdone in shots on goal 4-5.  

 In goal for the Lady Choctaws Madison North recorded three saves while allowing two goals.  

The Lady Choctaws are back in action at home on Friday, September 15 at 1 p.m. CT against West Florida.
