Choctaws Cruise to 9-3 Win Over Ouachita

CLINTON,  Miss. --- Mississippi College utilized nine goals on Sunday to pick up their third win of the season, cruising to a 9-3 win over Ouachita in non-conference action.

Just a few minutes into the game, at the 4:27 mark, Max Buesch netted the first goal for MC, with an assist from Denis O. John. This was not the end for Buesch, as he found the back of the net again at 9:44.

Denis O. John, who assisted the first goal, became the scorer at 10:32, expanding MC's lead. This goal was set up by a brilliant play from Yamato Fujishima.

Luke Fanstone and Benedikt Strauchmann added to the tally, with Fanstone netting twice, once at 23:27 with an assist from Sergio Garrido, and again at 61:04 off a pass from Louie Evans. Strauchmann scored his goal at 58:34.

Jacob Young and Alemu Mercer made sure the scoreboard kept ticking in favor of MC. Young's goal came at 61:14, with William Janous assisting. Mercer followed shortly, finding the net at 68:56.

Adding to MC's impressive scoreline, Pawemi Kumwenda also made his mark with a goal at 72:06.

OBU tallied three goals with Grant Isbell scoring at the 53:46 mark and Marshall Prather scoring twice, first at 57:22 and then again at 75:21.

The Choctaws went on to handle business in the Sunday match, winning by a final of 9-3. Max Buesch finished with 3 shots, all on target, converting 2 into goals in just 46 minutes of play.

Denis O. John finished with 4 shots, netting one and providing an assist in 53 minutes. Luke Fanstone made a mark with 2 shots on target and both finding the back of the net in his 73-minute appearance with Alemu Mercer scoring once from his 2 shots in 69 minutes.

With the win, MC moves to 3-1 overall on the season. They return to action on Friday afternoon at home where they take on West Florida beginning at 3:30 pm at Robert P. Longabaugh Field in Clinton, Miss.
