CLINTON, Miss. --- #19 Mississippi College overcame a 1-0 deficit and a long rain delay at the MC Softball Complex on Saturday to capture their 33rd win of the season by a final score of 3-1 over Christian Brothers.
Trailing 1-0, the Lady Choctaws quickly responded in the fourth inning, after the long rain delay, with
McCall Lee getting on base with a single.
Jordan Moore followed with a double to left center, allowing
Hannah Tauzin to advance to third, scoring
McCall Lee.
Jordan LaFosse followed with another sacrifice fly to center field, allowing
Jordan Moore to score and giving Mississippi College a 2-1 lead.
The Lady Choctaws kept the momentum going in the sixth inning, as
Ashley Lightcap got on base and eventually scored on
Jordan LaFosse's third sacrifice fly of the game, securing the victory for MC with a final score of 3-1.
LaFosse finished with two RBI's in the game while Moore and Lee led the team with one hit each.
Avery Barnett picked up her 10th win of the season in the circle and second this weekend after going the full 7.0 innings pitched, giving up just one run and three hits.
#19 MC improves 33-7 overall on the season and 19-5 in GSC play, picking up their seventh straight GSC series win.
MC returns to action on Wednesday for a neutral site non conference matchup versus West Georgia in Birmingham, Ala. beginning at 2 p.m. in doubleheader action.
