JACKSON, Miss. --- Mississippi College's distance runners will take center stage at the 2023 Belhaven Invitational in Jackson, Miss, on Saturday, March 25. The action-packed day kicks off at 9:00 AM with Josie Whipp competing in the Women's 5,000-meter run, followed by several Choctaw athletes participating in the Men's and Women's 1500m and 800m events.
The men's entries are headlined by standout athlete Adam Gomez, who earned a spot on the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Men's sqad that placed 12th in the nation, as well as freshman phenom Cooper Parmer, who enters competition as the No. 2 seed in both the Men's 800m and 1500m run.Â
On the women's side, 3K Steeplechase school record holder Ava Dickerson and middle-distance ace Leslie Baxter will lead the charge for the Lady Choctaws. Baxter enters the competition as the No. 1 seed in the Women's 800m and No. 2 in the Women's 1500m, while Dickerson is No. 3 in the Women's 1500m and No. 4 in the Women's 800m heading into competition.Â
