CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College men's and women's tennis took down Blue Mountain College in a non-conference midweek matchup, with the #19 ranked men winning 7-0 while the #16 ranked Lady Choctaws won 6-1.
The Lady Choctaws fell behind in doubles play as BMC took the 1-0 lead after winning courts one and three yet the MC dominated singles play, sweeping all six courts.
Ely Alas won at court one 3-0 (RET) to bring the match to a 1-1 tie.
Fernanda Cota helped give MC the 2-1 lead at #3 singles, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-0 on the court.
Emma Roberts pushed the Lady Choctaws ahead 3-1 with a court two win, winning both sets 6-2, 6-2.
Gabrielle Geolier helped give MC the clinching fourth point win at #4 singles, winning 6-2, 6-2, in two sets.
Anna Valiaeva and
Maria Rodriguez took wins at #5 and #6, with Valiaeva winning in two sets, 6-3, 6-1, while Rodriguez got it done in two sets as well with scores of 6-0, 6-1.
The Lady Choctaws took the overall match win over visiting Blue Mountain College 6-1 to help improve to 12-1 overall in 2023.
On the men's side, the #19 ranked Choctaws took wins on every court, including a doubles sweep to pick up the early 1-0 lead with

Felipe Iser winning at #1 doubles (6-4),
Alvaro Saint Martin/
Walker Ellis (6-3) at #2, and
Joe Jarvis/
Antoine Nivault winning 6-1 at #3 doubles.
Jarvis gave MC a 2-0 lead with a 5-0 (RET) win at #3 singles before MC got wins at #4 singles from
Antoine Nivault (6-1, 6-0) and a clinching win from Sabio at #2 (6-1, 6-1) to make it 4-0.
Saint Martin won at #1 singles (6-2, 6-2) with
Felipe Iser (6-0, 6-0) and
Brady McDaniel (6-0, 6-0) rounding out the lineup with wins at #5 and #6 singles.
The Choctaws improved to 9-4 overall on the season with the win. Both programs return to action on Saturday, March 25, with GSC action vs Lee. They will face off against one another beginning at 10 a.m. at the MC Tennis Complex
