HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team dropped a 71-48 decision at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Sunday, Dec. 17. MC moved to 3-8 on the season and 2-6 in the Gulf South Conference. The Chargers improved to 5-5 and 4-3 in the league.

Brett Gardner led the Blue and Gold with eight points while
Karly Ivy added seven in the setback.
Sky Vaughn paced the squad on the glass with five rebounds while a quartet of Choctaws finished tied for second on the team with four boards each.

MC shot 33.3 percent from the field, but struggled from behind the arc as it connected on 5-of-21 attempts. It hit 70 percent of its shots from the charity stripe in limited appearances. It did hold the advantage on the glass as it pulled down 35 rebounds and outgained the Blue and White by three.

Haley Nichols led a trio of UAH players in double figures with 14 points. Bella White pulled down a team-best seven rebounds as she also finished second on the team in scoring with 13 points. The Chargers shot over 50 percent from the floor, including a 30.8 clip from the 3-point line, and they converted on 65 percent of their trips to the free-throw line.

UAH led from pillar to post in the contest as it grabbed a 16-10 lead after the first 10 minutes of action and held a 39-26 advantage at the intermission and never looked back en route to the 23-point victory.

Mississippi College returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 31 as it hosts Shorter University. Tip-off for the Gulf South Conference affair is at 2 p.m.
