Volleyball Concludes Season in GSC Quarterfinals

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team fell in straight sets to Auburn University at Montgomery on Friday, Nov. 17 on the campus of the University of West Florida.

Lydia Paulette paced the squad in kills with 12 as the Tuscaloosa, Ala., native notched double-figure kills for the 24th time this season and the 48th of her career. Caroline Chastang added seven kills while Rhaia Davey reset her season-high with six. It surpassed her previous best of last met on Nov. 2 against Union University.

Ali Wiggins and Caylin Pixley helped direct the offensive effort. Wiggins led the way with 13 assists while Pixley dished out 11. Londyn Bakeris paced the squad in digs with 14 while Chastang collected 13. Davey also assisted on the defensive end with three blocks.

AUM jumped out early taking the opening two sets, 25-17 and 25-19. The Choctaws looked to avoid the sweep in the third. The two teams exchanged leads and stalemates through much of the final frame with the last coming at 19-all.

The Orange and Black broke the deadlock with the next three points, but a Paulette kill snapped the run and cut the deficit to two points. Following an Alessia Cappai kill, Julia Sumrall again delayed the Warhawks' run before Cappai put away the next two points to finish the match.

It marks just the fourth time this season the Choctaws were swept this season.

Mississippi College concludes the season at 13-15.
