CLINTON, Miss. --- As the 2023 regular season concludes, the Mississippi College volleyball team prepares to host the opening round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 14. The Choctaws (12-14) clinched the sixth seed in the tournament and hosts the seventh seed, Lee University, at 6 p.m.
Â
This marks the fourth consecutive GSC Tournament berth for the Blue and Gold and the 14th in the program's history, which is sixth among active members. The last four appearances have come with head coach Shawn Laurendine at the helm. In 2021, MC entered the tournament as the eighth seed and advanced to the tournament semifinals for the first time in program history.
Â
The Tuesday night tilt is the second meeting this season between MC and the Flames. The Choctaws topped the Red and White in three sets in Clinton earlier this season and have won the last five affairs. However, this meeting is the first postseason clash between the two institutions.
