ALBANY, Ga. --- Mississippi College opened the season Friday evening on the road at Albany State, falling by a final of 61-53 in non-conference action.
The first half of the game witnessed a closely contested battle, with both Mississippi College and Albany State putting up 25 points each. Albany State gained momentum in the second half, outscoring Mississippi College 36-28 and ultimately securing a 61-53 victory.
Rashad Bolden led Mississippi College in scoring with 21 points, after going 3-of-7 from three point range. Bolden also demonstrated reliability from the free-throw line, making 6-of-9 shots. In addition to his scoring, Bolden contributed four rebounds, one assist, and a steal during his 39 minutes on the court.
Lucas Heflen and Eric Fleming made significant contributions for the Choctaws. Heflen finished the game with 9 points, hitting 2-of-5 three-pointers, while Fleming added 13 points, making 5-of-7 field goals and converting 3-of-6 free throws. Anthony Ratliff Jr. recorded 11 rebounds and 6 points.
Looking ahead, Mississippi College aims to regroup as they take Central State on Sunday afternoon on the road. Both teams take the court beginning at 12 p.m. in Albany, Ga.
