HATTIESBURG, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell, 96-44, in an exhibition at the University of Southern Mississippi on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
The Choctaws were paced in scoring by newcomer
Jaliscia Florence with 15 points. The Pearl River Community College transfer shot 5-for-7 from the field and helped her cause by making five free throws as well. She also led the Blue and Gold in minutes played on the night with 27 of 40 minutes spent on the court. Sophomore
Karly Ivy was the other double-digit scorer for MC with 10 points, including making both of her three-ball attempts on the night and shot 3-for-8 from the floor. Other Lady Choctaws in scoring column were
Brett Gardner and
Cortney Gardner with five each and
Brylee Faith Cherry with four.Â
On the night, the Choctaws were 15-for-47 for a 32.0 clip and drained four of eleven shots from beyond the arc. The turnover margin was the silver bullet for the Choctaws as MC committed 25 turnovers to the Golden Eagles' 16. Southern Miss also controlled the rebounding battle with a 47-25 advantage.
DeKeria Walls led MC on the glass with her five rebounds.Â
Mississippi College opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10 in Memphis, Tenn., against Lane College in the GSC-SIAC Crossover. Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
