Montgomery, Al. — The Mississippi College Lady Choctaws defeated the Auburn-Montgomery Lady Warhawks 2-0 Sunday afternoon at AUM Soccer Complex.
The Lady Choctaws started off hot in their final regular season contest, with both of their goals coming in the first half of play.
The first came in the 14th minute courtesy of Margherita Giubilato as she put one in the bottom right of the goal after an assist by Ashton Storey.
Then, in the 25th minute, Paula Catalan made it 2-0 with her goal coming off an assist by Kathryn Knuth.
The 2-0 score would hold for the rest of the first half and throughout the second as the Lady Choctaws capped off their regular season with a win and improved to 10-3-2 on the season and 9-3-1 in GSC play.
The Lady Choctaws won in most statistical categories leading in shots 16-4 and shots on goal 8-2. In goal for MC Jessi Carro recorded a clean sheet with two saves and for AUM Karla Gaytan allowed two goals and had six saves.
The Lady Choctaws now look forward to the GSC Tournament as they have clinched a home quarterfinal matchup, which will take place on Saturday, November 4 against Valdosta State.
