BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its football weekly award winners for Week 8 of the 2023 season with Marcus Williams earning Special Teams Player of the Week.
Williams was a special teams threat on Saturday helping Mississippi College to a 38-21 victory over Chowan. The junior notched a 156 yards on kickoff returns, which was highlighted by a 95-yard return for touchdown in the fourth quarter. Williams also had 110 yards on the ground on 21 carries and one touchdown.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rajaez Mosley, Jr., RB, West Georgia
Mosley played a key role in helping West Georgia to a 38-14 win over North Greenville, as he racked up 179 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns. The junior running back finished the day averaging 10.8 yards per carry, as ran for 130 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. He also showed versatility from the backfield with one catch which he turned into a 49-yard touchdown.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jacob Dorn, Gr., DE, West Florida
Dorn made a team and season-high eight tackles as West Florida downed previously unbeaten Delta State, 24-21, on the road. The graduate defensive end registered six unassisted tackles and a pass breakup, while being credited with three quarterback hurries as part of his performance. Dorn was part of a defense that kept Delta State off the scoreboard in the second half and limited the offense to 64 yards in the half.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Cameran Brown, Fr., QB, West Georgia
Brown helped West Georgia to a 38-14 win over North Greenville on Saturday. The freshman quarterback threw for 142 yards and was 11-for-19 passing with two touchdowns. The dual-threat freshman also used foot in the performance as he rushed 13 times for 64 yards, averaging 4.9 yards a carry.
