Clinton, Miss— The Mississippi College Lady Choctaws tied the Lady Flames of LeeUniversity 1-1 on Sunday Afternoon at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
Both goals in the game came early, with Lee's Alaysia Nye striking first with a goal to the top right corner in just the third minute.
However,
Kathryn Knuth struck back quickly with a goal less than a minute later thanks to an assist from
Erin Hederman.
The 1-1 score would hold until halftime, as there was only one more shot on goal recorded in the first half, courtesy of Lee forward Alexis Hale.
The stalemate continued through the second half with neither team scoring. The Lady Choctaws had one last chance, with
Margherita Giubilato having a free kick from just inside the box in the 89th minute, however, Lee goalie Abby Whitcomb recorded the save, preserving the tie.
On the game, Lee had more shots 14-6, and shots on goal 4-3. MC had more fouls 3-2, though Lee had the only card as Alaysia Nye was booked for a yellow.
In goal for the Lady Choctaws
Anna Wes Driskell recorded three saves while only allowing one goal. For Lee, Whitcomb saved two and allowed one.
The Lady Choctaws will wrap up their regular season this weekend, with road matchups against Montevallo on Friday, October 27 at 5 p.m. CT and Auburn Montgomery on Sunday, October 29 at 1 p.m. CT.
