Huntsville, Al — The Mississippi College Lady Choctaws defeated the Lady Chargers of UAH 1-0 at Charger Park on Sunday.
The game was a defensive slugfest, featuring several penalties and excellent play from both goalkeepers.
The teams remained deadlocked throughout the first half, trading misses and saves as neither team was able to break through.
The lone goal of the contest came in the 48th minute off the foot of Kaylee Foster, assisted by Summer Utzig. The goal was Fosters second of the year, and Utzig's assist was her first.
The Lady Choctaws outshot the Lady Charger 14-8, and had more shots on goal 8-3. The game was a physical one, with both teams having ten fouls and two lady Choctaws, Emma Young and Margherita Giubilato, picking up yellow cards. In goal for MC Jessi Carro recorded a clean sheet including three saves, and for UAH CeCe Szopa saved seven and allowed the lone goal on the day.
The lady Choctaws are back in action on Friday, October 20 at home against Shorter and will kick off at 1 p.m. CT.
