WINTER HAVEN, Fla. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team improved to 7-0 on the season as it swept Belmont Abbey College in straight sets for the second time in eight days as the Choctaws went undefeated in the Rollins Invitational.

MC held the Crusaders to a .000 hitting percentage – the lowest by an opponent this season. It surpassed the previous mark of .056 by the same opponent.

Lexie Laurendine paced the squad offensively with a team-best nine kills while she dished out 11 assists, which was second on the team.
Caroline Chastang finished second on the team in kills with eight as MC totaled 33 in the contest and posted a .250 attack clip. It's the fourth time this season the squad has hit .250 or better.

Ali Wiggins guided the offensive attack as she dished out a team-best 14 dimes.

In a complete team effort, nine Choctaws recorded dig in the match led by
Missy Beber with eight. The Navy and Gold continued its impressive effort at the net during the trip to the Sunshine State as the squad collected six more blocks led by
Kendall Platt with four in the match. The four rejections match a career-high for the Anaheim, Calif., native.

MC bested the Crusaders 25-18, 25-16 to hold a 2-0 lead. The two squads exchanged leads and ties in the opening part of the third set with the two teams tied at 13-all, but the Choctaws took control of the contest with a 9-3 run to grab a 22-16 lead and never look.

Mississippi College opens its 2022 home slate on Friday, Sept. 9 with a tri-match against Tougaloo College and Southern Arkansas University. The match against TC is set for 2 p.m. while the Choctaws close out the day at 6 p.m. against the Muleriders from the Natural State.
