CLINTON. MISS -- Mississippi College opened up the home schedule Saturday afternoon defeating #7 NAIA opponent Keiser by a final score of 26-8 at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
The Choctaws started strong, scoring on a 5-yard touchdown run by
Marcus Williams to give MC the early 6-0 lead with 8:48 to go in the first quarter.
With 3:07 left in the first quarter, running back
Ian Thies punched it into the endzone on a 19-yard rush, capping off a seven play 64 yard drive, as MC jumped ahead 12-0.
Less than three minutes later, DeAnte-Smith Moore connected with
Jacob Stephens on a 53-yard touchdown reception as MC took the 19-0 lead with 10-seconds to go in the first quarter.
In the fourth quarter,
Marcus Williams completed a 16 play, 95-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run, giving MC the 26-0 lead in the fourth.
Keiser responded with a 4-yard rushing touchdown with four minutes left in the contest, cutting the MC lead to 26-8. MC went on to win by a final score of 26-8, defeating #7 Keiser to open the home slate for the Choctaws in 2022.
Mississippi College improved to 1-1 overall with the win and will return to action next Saturday, September 17, versus North Greenville to open up GSC play. Both teams are set to kickoff beginning at 2 p.m. at. Robinson-Hale Stadium in Clinton, Miss.
