CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College track and field program officially announced transfers additions for the 2022-23 season.
Niklas Klei | Queens University of Charlotte – An elite track and field athlete from Queens University, Klei will be a part of the Mississippi College track and field program this fall. He is coming off of a third-place finish in the decathlon at the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, earning First Team NCAA Division II All-American honors. Klei also qualified for the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 400m, where he finished 11th overall and earned Second Team NCAA Division II All-American honors. He will be a great addition to the Mississippi College track and field program in several events.
Nicole Morris | Southern Arkansas University – Morris comes back to her home state and joins the Mississippi College throws program, from fellow Division II member SAU. Morris, who was a 2019 graduate at Newton County High School in Decatur, Miss., has earned collegiate PRs of 138'7" in the discus, 140'7" in the hammer throw, and 38'6" in the shot put. She will undoubtedly continue to progress under the Mississippi College coaching staff, and is a solid addition to the Choctaws.
Rashanna Thorne | Cowley (KS) College - Another female thrower joining the Lady Choctaw family, as well as another solid addition, is Rashhanna Thorne. Thorne, originally from Christ Church, Barbados, is a 2021 NJCAA Indoor All-American in the shot put. In her junior college career, Thorne has garnered collegiate PRs of 40'6.25" in the shot put, 128'3" in the hammer throw, and 110'9" in the discus. Thorne will add to the growth of the Mississippi College women's throws program in a big way.
Kevin Turner | Shorter University - The two-time defending Gulf South Conference Champion in the 60-meter dash is coming to Mississippi College in the Fall. Turner is a short sprints specialist that has tallied seven GSC Championship medals, ranging from the 60-meter dash to the 200-meter dash. Turner has achieved PRs of 6.79 in the 60 meters, 10.49 in the 100 meters, and 21.80 in the 200. He already has quite the resume, and will be looking to add to the success of the men's short sprints program at Mississippi College.
Essence Tornabene | Christian Brothers University - The 2022 Gulf South Conference Indoor Track and Field Champion in the weight throw will be joining the Lady Choctaw family. Tornabene is a throws specialist that has earned four GSC Championship medals in the weight throw and hammer throw. She has achieved PRs of 156'3" in the hammer throw, 54'6.5" in the weight throw, 125'8" in the discus, and 41'4.25" in the shot put. Tornabene is yet another addition to the women's throws program at Mississippi College that will help elevate the team, and accomplish even more goals along with her Lady Choctaw teammates.
Hillary Udechukwu | New Mexico Highlands - Coming to join the Lady Choctaw family is long sprinter from New Mexico Highlands, Hillary Udechukwu. Originally from Ekeren, Belgium, Udechukwu is a 200-meter and 400-meter specialist that has PRs of 25.39 in the 200 and 57.16 in the 400, and has lettered several times at numerous Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships in the 4x100, 4x400, 200, and 400. She is an exceptional pick-up for the Lady Choctaws' sprints program, and will be a great addition to the relays and long sprints for Mississippi College.
Timothy Young | Wingate University – Timothy Young another talented and versatile athlete who will be a part of the Mississippi College Track and Field program. Young, who hails from Kingston, Jamaica, is a jumps specialist and is coming off of a 2022 outdoor track and field season hitting PRs and NCAA Division II provisional marks in both the long jump and triple jump. Those marks were 47'10.5' in the triple jump and 23'5.25" in the long jump. He was also a part of the 4x100m relay during his time at Wingate. He will undoubtedly prove to be a solid pick-up for the Mississippi College program.
