NEW ORLEANS --- The United Track and Field, Cross Country Coaches Association announced its all-region accolades on Wednesday, June 22. Mississippi College grabbed a combined 28 nods on the list.
Fabio Palmieri and
Tytavia Hardy nabbed four all-region accolades each to lead the Choctaws.

Palmieri picked up honors in the men's 100, 200 and 400 meters along with serving as a member of the 4x400 relay. Hardy garnered laurels in the women's high jump, 100 hurdles and long jump as well as serving as a member of the 4x400 relay.

The duo headlined five Choctaws that were named all-region in multiple events.
Kelechi Christian, who also was a member of the women's 4x4 quartet, earned three all-region selections. The freshman was selected in the 200 and 400 meters.

Jazmin Hernandez,
Wesley Gibbs and
Al Ferrill rounded out the multiple all-region selections for the Navy and Gold. Hernandez grabbed accolades in the women's 800 and 1,500 meters. Gibbs, who joined Palmieri on the men's 4x4, also was selected all-region in the 800 meters. Ferrill earned all-region nods in the men's shot put and discus.

Overall, there were nine men's programs and six women's programs that earned 20 or more all-region honors for their efforts during the 2022 outdoor season. Gulf South Conference member, Lee University, led the nation with 59 selections. MC finished third in the conference as the University of Alabama in Huntsville placed a combined 43 on the list.

The top-five individuals in each event from each region earn all-region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team.
