CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team took the opening series loss at home Friday night as they fell to the Union Lady Bulldogs by a final score of 3-0 at the MC Softball Complex.
Neither team could muster up a run through the first four innings of action until Union broke things loose in the top of the fifth inning, scoring three runs to take a 3-0 lead.
MC managed just two hits offensively, while giving up seven hits to the Lady Bulldogs on the night. Union went on to hold the Lady Choctaws scoreless for the evening, taking game one by a final score of 3-0, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
McCall Lee and
Jordan LaFosse had the only two hits in the ball game for the Lady Choctaws, with Lee's hit coming in the second inning, while LaFosse earned her hit in the fourth inning of action.
The Lady Choctaws pitched both
Avery Barnett and
Avery Sanders in the game, with both pitchers combing for seven strikeouts in the circle.
Mississippi College turns the page to tomorrow where they will take on Union for games two and three of the series, apart of Senior Day for the Lady Choctaws.

Avery Sanders,
AnneMarie Peavy, and
Mallory Little prior to game one beginning at 12:40 p.m.
Both teams will go head to head beginning at 1 p.m. with game two set to follow at the MC Softball Complex in Clinton, Miss.
