CARROLLTON, Ga. — The Mississippi College softball team fell to West Georgia on Saturday afternoon in the first two games of the Gulf South Conference weekend series, falling 3-2 in game one and 5-4 in game two.

MC got things going early in game one with a McCall Lee single to right field that scored Alexis Laughlin, as the Lady Choctaws grabbed the early 1-0 lead.

UWG answered in the bottom half of the third inning with a  three-run home run that gave the Lady Wolves a two-run, 3-1 lead over the Lady Choctaws.

A Brooke Fagan ground out to second base gave MC an added run in the fourth inning, scoring Bailee Avants from third, as the Lady Choctaws cut UWG's lead down to 3-2.

UWG went on to shut the Lady Choctaws down the remainder of the way as the Lady Wolves took game one by a final of 3-2.

UWG, in the bottom half of the first inning, tallied three runs in the first inning, taking a 3-1 lead before adding a fourth run in the second inning. UWG led 4-1 through the first two innings until Jenna Ergle blasted a two home run over the center field wall, pulling MC within a 4-3 deficit.

UWG pushed one more run across the plate on a bases loaded walk in the fourth inning, regaining a two-run lead at 5-3.

In the top of the fifth, Ergle homered over the left center field wall, her second of the contest and 10th home run of the season, as MC trailed 5-4.
