HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Mississippi College Lady Choctaws fell in a pair of contests Saturday afternoon, slipping to Alabama Huntsville 6-2 in game one before falling 2-1 in game two.
In game one, both teams were scoreless through the first few innings before MC struck first in the top half of the third inning, with an
Alexis Laughlin single to left field that score
Jaycee Dill, as MC took a 1-0 lead.
UAH answered in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring five runs, including a three run home run, as the Chargers took a 5-1 lead. Trailing 6-1 in the seventh inning, Annemarie Peavy got things started off in the inning for the Lady Choctaws with a solo home run that cut the UAH lead to 6-2.Â
UAH went on to hold MC the rest of the way in the seventh, on their way to a 6-2 game one.
In game two, the Lady Chargers picked up runs in the third and fourth inning to take a 2-0, until Peavy notched for second home run of the afternoon in the fifth inning, a solo shot, to cut the Chargers lead to 2-1.
MC knocked five hits in the contest, coming up short in game two as they fell by a final of 2-1 to UAH.
Peavy led MC with two hits in game two, while three Choctaws, Peavy,
Alexis Laughlin, and
Rayne Minor each had two hits in game one.
MC and UAH go head to head tomorrow for the series finale with first pitch set for 12 p.m. in Huntsville, Ala.
