LORMAN, Miss -- The Mississippi College tennis programs split Thursday non-conference matchup at Alcron State with the women winning 6-1 while the men fell 4-3 to the Braves.
On the men's side,

Carlos Trujillo and Geryson Black/
Walker Ellis gave MC the 1-0 lead in the match with two doubles wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles winning 6-4 and 7-6 respectively.
In singles action, Alcorn State won the first four singles matches, while
Walker Ellis and
Danny Liu took home the wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Ellis defeated Alcorn's Rocca, 6-2, 6-4, while Liu won over Bowe, 6-2, 6-4.
On the women's side, MC claimed the first two doubles matches with wins by
Ely Alas,
Fernanda Cota, 7-6, and
Emma Roberts/Maria Rodriquez, 6-4. MC took the 1-0 lead over the Lady Braves heading to doubles.
Mississippi College dominated it's way through singles play, with
Ely Alas winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Pauline Cota winning 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles,
Emma Roberts, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 3 singles, and
Anna Valiaeva, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 at No. 4 singles.Â
Maria Rodriquez won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, closing out the 6-1 win for the Lady Choctaws over Alcorn State on Thursday in non-conference action.
The men fall to 3-12 overall on the season with Thursday's loss while the women improve to 12-6 overall on the season with the win.Â
Both the men and women return to action on Monday, April 25, at home versus Millsaps for the final home match in the legendary career of Head Coach
