CLINTON, Miss. -- The Mississippi College Choctaw Golf team finished in second place overall at the Buccaneer Spring Classic in Memphis Tennessee on Tuesday wrapping up the Classic with an overall score of 878 among nine teams competing.Â
Mississippi College shot +14, four strokes behind first place Delta State, who finished with an overall score of 874 after three rounds. After the first round of competition on Monday Mississippi College sat in seventh place overall on the overall leaderboard. Yet, MC quickly rose up the leaderboard, finishing in first place in the second round after shooting a 279, before following it up with a round three score of 295.
The Choctaws were led by JJ Logue who finished with an overall score of 216 after shooting 76 in round one, 69 in round two, and 71 in round three. Logue finished tied for fourth overall on the individual leaderboard. Adam Murphree finished tied for tenth after an overall score of 221 with rounds of 75, 71, and 75.
Bryson Jones finished one stroke behind Murphree with a score of 222 after collecting scores of 78, 71, and 73. Jones finished tied for 13th on the leaderboard at the Buccaneers Spring Classic.
Tomas Kubata shot a 223 after having a first round opening day score of 76, an overall tournament best 68 in round two, and 79 in round three to wrap up the week. Kubata placed 16th at the buccaneer Spring classic.
Cameron Bridger rounded out the Choctaws lineup finishing tied for 19th overall after shooting a 225 with rounds of 77, 72, and 76. Mississippi College returns to action on March 21 at Southern Arkansas University. The Choctaws will tee off beginning at 8 a.m. in El Dorado, Ark.
