CLINTON, Miss. -- The Mississippi College tennis program took on Christian Brothers Saturday afternoon with the women knocking off previously undefeated CBU by a final of 5-2 in GSC play.
Anna Valiaeva and
Anna Didkovska won over Beatriz Costa and Eva Garcia 6-2 while #3
Emma Roberts and
Maria Rodriguez defeated Nellina Wooten and Gabriela Marin 6-1, as MC went on to claim a 1-0 lead over CBU after doubles play.
CBU started off with wins at #1 and #2 singles, yet the Choctaws closed out #3-#6 with wins as
Emma Roberts knocked off Beatriz Costa 6-3, 6-1 before
Anna Valiaeva defeated Eva Garcia 6-1, 7-5 at #4 singles.
Anna Didkovska (7-6, 4-6, 6-3) and
Fernanda Cota (3-6, 6-1, 6-2) each closed out the final sets, winning at #5 and #6 singles, as MC went on to win by a final of 5-2 over the Lady Bucs, handing CBU their first loss of the season.
MC improved to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in GSC play as the Choctaws return to action on March 12 with a road matchup at Auburn Montgomery. MC and AUM go head to head beginning at 10 a.m. in Montgomery, Ala.
