MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. --- The Mississippi College hammer throwers were on display on Thursday, March 24 at the Mississippi State University hosted Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays.
Al Ferrill was the top finisher out of a pair of Choctaws competing in the men's hammer. The Tickfaw, La., native finished fourth in the event with a personal best throw of 50.40 meters. He finished behind Mississippi State's Daniel Pepper, who won the event with a toss of 59.54 meters. Samford University's Seth Wolfe took second (57.56m) with the University of Southern Mississippi's Kaya Ludgood in third (51.48m).
Christopher Garcia-Cloud finished ninth with a PR toss of 41.02 meters. Both Choctaws were the top non-Division I throwers in the competition.
Kiara Vance reset the school record in the women's hammer as she posted a toss of 39.72 meters. She finished eighth in the Division I-laden field. The Clinton, Miss., native was the top non-DI competitor.
Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, March 25 as it competes in the second day of the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays.
