Hardy, Kurz Advance to NCAA Division II Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Mississippi College's Hunter Kurz and Tytavia Hardy qualified and declared their entries for the NCAA Division II Men and Women's Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Pittsburg, Kan., March 11-12.
 
The duo are among a combined 540 participants, including 270 men and 270 women, who will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event.
 
Hardy declared for the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.60, which tied for 12th in Division II. The Pensacola, Fla., native set her qualifying time at the GSC Indoor Championships, which is a personal best and helped her win the event at the conference championship.
 
Kurz declared for the men's mile with a time of 4:06.18, which is 17th nationally. The time marked a personal best for the Philpot, Ky., product. He set that time during GSC Indoors that led to a silver-medal finish in the event.
 
The championships scheduled for the Harvey Dean Track on the campus of Pittsburg State University. Pittsburg State and Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau will serve as co-hosts of the championships.
