CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team snapped a four-game slide as it topped the University of Alabama in Huntsville, 51-43, in Gulf South Conference action on Sunday, Dec. 11. MC improves to 3-8 on the campaign and 2-6 in the GSC. UAH falls to 3-7 and 3-4 in league play.

Kyiah Julian posted a career-high 12 points to pace the squad. Her previous best was 20 points at Union on Jan. 22, 2021. The Greenwood, Ark., native also led the team on the glass with six rebounds.
Ava Knoedl added eight points to finish second on the team in scoring.

The Blue and Gold shot 37.0 percent from the field and connected on 5-for-13 from the 3-point line for 38.5 percent. It posted a 92.3 clip from the charity stripe and grabbed 30 rebounds.

After being outscored in the first 20 minutes of action, MC battled back to take a 26-25 lead at the intermission. In a back-and-forth third period, UAH held a two-point advantage with under two minutes in the stanza. Kay Ivy placed the Blue and Gold in front as knocked down a 3-pointer with 29 seconds left in the quarter, 38-37. It marked the only points of the game for the Denton, Texas, native.

The Blue and White rallied back early to knot the contest at 41-all midway through the final period. The Choctaw responded with a 6-2 run to swell its lead to 47-43 with just over a minute to play behind a pair of Julian free throws.
Brett Gardner push the lead to six points following a turnover and layup with 31 seconds remaining in the game and Julian knocked down another pair of free throws to ice the contest. Â

Haley Nichols led the Chargers with 18 points and nine rebounds. Madie Krieger joined the Tennessee-Martin transfer with 11 points. The Blue and White shot 31.9 percent from the floor, recorded one 3-pointer on three attempts and was 12-of-12 from the free-throw line with 31 boards.

Mississippi College returns to action Friday, Dec. 16 as it travels to the Peach State to face Shorter University. Tip is at 4:30 p.m.
