West Alabama Defeats Choctaws 38-16 In GSC Play

LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- Mississippi College fell on Saturday on the road versus West Alabama by a final of 38-16 in Gulf South Conference play.

Trailing 10-0 in the first quarter, Cole Fagan pushed the Choctaws on the board with a rushing touchdown to make it a 10-6 game with 6:34 on the clock in the first quarter.

UWA went to the break leading 17-6 over Mississippi College. In the second half, UWA extended their lead to 31-6 before a John Henry White quarterback keeper trimmed the Tigers lead down to a 31-13 advantage. 

Ben Pledger added a field goal in the fourth quarter, yet th Choctaws fell by a final of 38-16. The Choctaws fell to 4-6 overall on the season and 3-4 in the GSC with the loss, after rushing for 180 yards on the ground on 42 rushing attempts.

Fagan finished with 10 rushes for 53 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in the contest. Marcus Williams had nine rushes for 51 yards for an average of 5.7 yards per rush.

John Henry White tallied 15 rushes for 48 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown including going 4-of-7 through the air for 20 yards.

Ridge Futral led MC with seven tackles on the night with six solo tackles and two tackles for a loss. David Brown IV had five tackles with five solo tackles in the game. The Choctaws finished with 235 yards of total offense on 50 total plays from scrimmage.

Mississippi College returns to action next Saturday, November 12, at home versus West Florida in non-conference play. The two teams will meet for the second time in a month and are set to kickoff beginning at 2 p.m. at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
