HATTIESBURG, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 74-42 to the University of Southern Mississippi on Wednesday, Nov. 30 in its final exhibition of the 2022-23 campaign.

The trip to the Magnolia State brethren marked the second exhibition of the season for the Blue and Gold as it traveled to Baton Rouge, La., to face nationally-ranked Louisiana State University.

Freshman Ava Knoedl paced the squad in scoring with seven points while junior
Kyiah Julian added six points. Junior Gabby Bunch grabbed a team-best five rebounds followed by Danielle Tennant and freshman Keller Bigham with four boards each.

MC shot 26.0 percent from the floor in the contest, including going just 4-for-20 from the behind the arc. It posted a 71.0 clip from the charity stripe and grabbed 39 rebounds as it held a plus-six advantage on the glass in the contest.

After trailing 17-9 through the first 10 minutes of action, the Choctaw matched the Lady Golden Eagles with 12 points in the second stanza to head into the locker room down by eight points. Danielle Tennant and Taylor Ben paced the Blue and Gold with four points each during the first 20 minutes.

The Black and Gold flexed its muscle in the second half as it outscored MC 45-21 and held it to just 21-percent shooting.

Domonique Davis led USM with 23 points while a trio of Golden Eagles pulled down a team-best four rebounds. The Black and Gold shooting 47 percent from the field as it hit just 23.0 percent from the 3-point line and connected on 74 percent from the free-throw line.

Mississippi College returns to Gulf South Conference action on Friday, Dec. 2 as it travels to Montevallo, Ala., to face the University of Montevallo. Tip at Trustmark Arena is at 5:30 p.m.
