CLEVELAND, Miss.--- The Mississippi College women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw with Delta State on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 8th). 
Beatrice Currie and 
Olivia Gelpi scored the goals for MC to earn the draw. The Lady Choctaws move to 9-2-1 (6-1-1 GSC) on the year, while Delta State moves to 8-5-1 (5-3-1 GSC).
Delta State took the early lead in the 8th minute on a goal from Madison Lafontaine.
The Lady Choctaws would draw back even however later in the 1st half on a goal from 
Beatrice Currie. 
MaryElla White picked up the assist on the goal. The goal marks Currie's ninth goal of the season, which is the 2nd most on the team. 
The match would remain even at 1-1 for the remainder of the 1st half. In the opening 45 minutes, MC outshot Delta State 6-4. The Lady Choctaws also held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
Delta State once again took the lead back in the 2nd half, this time at 2-1, in the 67th minute on a goal from Rylee McGee.
MC battled looking to draw even for the next 20 minutes or so.
Olivia Gelpi eventually found the late equalizer for MC in the 85th minute on a great goal. The goal is the second of the season for Gelpi. 
Neither team was able to find a match-winner in the final minutes, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Overall for the match, Delta State edged out MC in shots 13-12. The squads were even in shots on goal, 8-8.
Currie led the way for MC in shots with six (all six were on goal, to also lead the team). 
Next up, MC will resume their suspended match against Auburn-Montgomery on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 11th). The match was originally started on September 9th, but play was suspended due to lightning with the Lady Choctaws leading 1-0 in the 20th minute. Play will resume from there.
