CLINTON, Miss.--- Mississippi College utilized an aggressive ground on Saturday afternoon to pick up their second win in row, defeating Shorter by a final score of 35-21 at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
After forcing a punt on Shorter's opening possession, the Choctaws drove 80 yards for a score on a 1-yard dive to the end zone by quarterback

The Hawks answered with a score of their own with a 43-yard pass to Trey Thomas from Aeneas Dennis tying the game at 7-7 but MC answered immediately retaking the lead 14-7 with a 58-yard run by
Ron Craten and keep the advantage going into the final minutes of the half.
In the second quarter, White took another score in on the ground with a six-yard run extending the lead to 21-7 with 13:23 left in the half. Following a Shorter missed field goal, the Choctaws scored again as
Marcus Williams added a touchdown of his own pushing the lead to 28-7 at the 4:55 mark.
Shorter answered with Dennis finding Kyle Morlock for a score from 19 yards out trimming the lead to 28-14 and the score remained the same going into the break. Craten scored again making it 35-14 the 3:01 mark of the third period. The quarter ended with the Hawks making it closer MC 35- 21. The Choctaws allowed no more scores on their way to a 35-21 victory.
Mississippi College dominated the run game with 527 rushing yards on 67 rushing attempts, including setting a new school record with 28 rushing first downs in a single game. The Choctaws broke the record of 22 rushing first downs, previously set on Oct. 6, 1979 versus Delta State.
MC was led by freshman quarterback
John Henry White, who tallied 270 rushing yards on 35 carries (
one carry shy of tying the school record set by Robert Felton versus State College of Arkansas on Nov. 3, 1973).
White averaged 7.7 yards per carry with two rushing touchdowns. He also was 4-of-5 through the air with 59 passing yards on the afternoon.
Ron Craten finished with 105 yards on the ground on six total carries, for an average of 17.5 yards rushing per play and two touchdowns. Craten led they way with two receptions for 35 receivimg yards.
Cole Fagan netted 70 rushing yards on 12 attempts for an average of 5.8 yards per carry.
Marcus Williams had one touchdown rush on the ground, while providing 38 rushings yards on seven carries. He also had two receptions for 24 yards.
Defensively,
Grant Watts led the way with a game best six tackles, all solo tackles, including one tackle for a loss.
Zach Hammann produced the Choctaws lone sack in the win, finishing with two tackles.
Mississippi College improves to 3-3 overall on the season and 2-1 in Gulf South Conference play after Saturday's win. The Choctaws look to take their two game win streak on the road next Saturday (October 15) where they take on Valdosta State in GSC action. The two teams are set to kickoff beginning at 2 p.m. CST in Valdosta, Ga.
