CLINTON, Miss.--- The Mississippi College women's soccer team beat Union 3-0 on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 16th) on Senior Day. Eduarda Silva, Avery Hederman, and Erin Hederman scored the goals for MC. The Lady Choctaws improved to 12-2-1 (9-1-1 GSC) on the season, while Union falls to 4-10-1 (3-8-1 GSC).

MC honored seniors Beatrice Currie, Bibi Joo, and Sara Maleski before the match.

Eduarda Silva got the scoring started in the 28th minute. She broke into the box on the end of a ball from Erin Hederman and then slotted it home to put MC ahead 1-0. The goal is the fourth of the season for Silva. 

The rest of the 1st half remained scoreless as MC went into the break leading by one goal.

In the first half, MC outshot Union 19-3. The Lady Choctaws also held a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal in the opening 45. 

Avery Hederman then doubled MC's lead in the 53rd minute. She pulled the shot from distance, and rang the ball into the net off the post. The goal marks Avery Hederman's third goal of the season.

Erin Hederman then extended the lead to the ultimately final score of 3-0 just several minutes later with a great finish on a volley. Julia Murdoch played the ball in, Olivia Gelpi then headed the ball towards Hederman. Hederman then took the shot on a volley and expertly sent it home to extend the lead. The goal is Erin Hederman's 11th of the season, which is second on the team and ranks in the top five in the conference.

Overall for the match, MC outshot Union 34-7. MC also won the shots on goal battle 13-3. 

Sara Maleski also kept a clean sheet in the match as she made three saves. Her record improves to 22-5-3 in goal as a starter for her career. 

Next up, MC will head into their final weekend of the regular season. The Lady Choctaws will travel to take on Spring Hill on Friday, Oct. 21st and West Florida on Sunday, Oct. 23rd.
