Choctaws Draw With Christian Brothers 1-1 in Tough Clash

CLINTON, Miss.--- The Mississippi College men's soccer team drew with Christian Brothers 1-1 on Friday afternoon (Oct. 14th). Guilherme Santos scored the goal early for MC. The Choctaws move to 7-2-2 (4-2-2 GSC) on the year, while CBU moves to 7-2-5 (3-2-4 GSC).

Guilherme Santos put MC ahead early as he headed home a corner. Nico Milot took the corner, and played it into the front post. Santos got on the end of it and headed it back across the goal and in to put MC ahead 1-0.

The rest of the 1st half was an intense clash with both teams battling for the all-important next goal. Both goalkeepers did well to keep the scoreline at 1-0. MC's Cole Turner made five saves in the 1st half to keep the Bucs off the board. The score would remain 1-0 heading into the break.

In the 1st half, CBU outshot MC 9-4. The Bucs also held a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.

The 2nd half was much of the same with each team battling, but neither able to find a goal for most of the 2nd half.

Christian Brothers would ultimately breakthrough and find the equalizer in the 87th minute. After an injury restart, the ball was played into the box and Eduardo Bengoa headed it backwards and into the net to draw the Bucs even 1-1.

Neither team was able to find the match-winner in the final minutes, as the match would end in a 1-1 draw even though the Choctaws led for over 80 minutes.

Overall for the match, CBU outshot the Choctaws 18-10. The Bucs also held an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Next up, MC will host Union on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 16th) for Senior Day. Senior Day festivities will begin at approximately 3:15 pm.
